The Melkweg is an old brick warehouse which has been converted into a cultural center which not only features many rock and pop concerts but also photo exhibits, film screenings, dance performances, and all kinds of cultural activities. Big names as well as local groups perform here, making it popular attraction for youth. You can ask the receptionist at your hostel which bands will be playing.

There is no guided tour, however, a detailed leaflet available in a variety of languages (which may also be available at your hostel) is given to you at the entrance.  Completing the full tour takes about an hour and a half and is sure to leave you full of emotion.

The house is open daily from 9am. Closing hours vary by season, during the summer months it can be open until 10pm. If interested in visiting the museum you can ask the receptionist at your hostel what time the museum will be closing. Your hostel can also provide you with directions to the museum.

The entrance fee is 8.50 € for adults and 4 € for children under 18. The I Amsterdam Card is not accepted. Tickets can be purchased online for an additional cost of 0.50 €.

The Van Gogh museum portrays more of Van Gogh’s famous works than any other museum in the world. Famous paintings such as  The Sunflowers, and Van Gogh’s self-portrait are part of the permanent collection. You can ask at your hostel if any special exhibitions are being showcased.

Guided tours are not offered by the museum but can be booked (possibly at your hostel) with an outside guide. If you prefer to visit the museum by yourself it is recommended that you acquire the booklet which explains Van Gogh’s life. The booklet which is available in many languages including English can be found at the museum’s information desk and at many hostels. The booklet also contains a map of the museum to further facilitate self guided tours.

If you are passionate about art and especially Van Gogh, know that the Van Gogh Museum has a specialized library containing over 24,000 books on Van Gogh and other artists of the nineteenth century.

Directions
The Van Gogh Museum is located on the Museumplein. The entrance is at number 7 at the Paulus Potterstraat. The museum is easily accessible by public transportation (tram lines 2, 3, 5 and 12 and buses 170, 171 and 172) which may be very close to your hostel.
The museum is open daily from 10AM to 6PM, however, on Fridays it closes later at 10Pm.
Admission is 14 euros but is free for those under 18. Unfortunately, there is no student discount.

If you spend a weekend in Dublin in early June, do not miss the Maritime Festival, organized by the Dublin Docklands Authority. In a lively area where new attractions keep appearing, this festival celebrates everything that is maritime! You can ask at your hostel which days the festival will be taking place.

Most activities take place on the docks of the northern and southern banks of the Liffey: street theater, music, and a great outdoor craft market where you can taste the cheeses and other specialties of Dublin.

You can also visit the three-mast vessel Jeanie Johnston, a replica of a ship built in Quebec in 1847, and a enjoy mini-cruise on the Liffey River.

The Docklands quarter is only minutes from downtown and several hostels. You can get there by different ways: walking, cycling or using public transport. The extension of the red line (C1) streetcar, Luas, which opened last December, serves this quarter very well.

Here’s another tapas bar that is a must for Barcelona: La Plata.

This is a tiny bar, you will not find a lot of seating. Chances are that you’ll be eating standing up, but you will not soon forget the sardines you will eat at this place! Not a fan of sardines? Try anyway, it’s worth it! Add to your meal a glass of wine, poured right from the barrel, and you have an authentic experience that will give you the feeling of having lived as a local.

Located on Charterhouse Street, near Smithfield Meat Market, this is one of the busiest locations of the city, welcoming each evening around 3,000 people. DJ guests are present every night on every floor to make you dance all night! There is an admission fee and opening hours vary.

The Fabric opens at 10PM on Friday and at 11PM on Saturday. You can buy your tickets in advance to avoid line-ups, or become a member of the club. Student fares (£ 11 and £ 14 instead of £ 14 and £ 18) are only available at the door.

The zoo also has an aquarium that can be visited separately, but should anyway be part of your itinerary. Perfect for a rainy afternoon! If you’re lucky enough, you can even attend the dinner hour of some species. Schedules are posted at the entrance of the aquarium.

Because it is an old park (founded in 1844), the zoo is worth visiting not only for the animals it hosts, but also for its architecture.

Useful information:
The Berlin Zoo is open daily from 9 AM to 7PM during summer. It closes at 5PM during winter, and the aquarium closes one hour later, at 6PM, summer and winter.

The price is 12 € for accessing the zoo only, and admission to the aquarium is the same price, but you can save by purchasing a combination ticket for both attractions at the cost of 18 € . There are discounts for children, 6 and 9 €.
You can buy tickets in advance on the website of the zoo, they are valid until the end of the year.

You can get to the Berlin Zoo by different means of transport:

For drivers, the zoo is well identified and is located near two paying parkings (you will hardly find a parking place for free around the zoo): Nürnberger Straße Budapester Straße.

To get there

You can access Buckingham Palace by the following subway stations: Hyde Park Corner, Victoria Station and St James’s Park.
The Palace is open daily from 9:45AM to 6PM. The visit lasts about two hours.

The fairs’ origin is lost in the mists of time … The Foire du Trône  exists since the year 957, it was also called “The Fair of the Gingerbread”, because of the gingerbread which was sold there. Now located at the Pelouse de Reuilly, at the Bois de Vincennes, it annually attracts more than five million visitors!

Useful information
La Foire du Trône is open daily from noon to midnight, and even a little later on Saturday until 1AM. You can choose from more than 300 attractions, and each year brings new surprises.

Admission is free but the rides are not. There is a pass to get discounts on attractions and drinks. You can purchase these discounted tickets in FNAC and ticket booths of some supermarkets.
